This Huitema Zeeschouw from 1978 is a classic Dutch sailing yacht with a rich history and a distinctive appearance. The ship was built at the Flaquee shipyard and has since become a familiar sight on Dutch inland waters and lakes. The boat has been owned by the same owner since 2000, who has carefully used the ship for pleasure sailing, sporty trips, vacations, and weekend getaways. After the owner's passing in December 2024, the ship is now being offered by the heirs.

Dimensions and Construction

The Huitema Zeeschouw has a length of 9.00 meters, a width of 3.25 meters, and a draft of 0.80 meters. Thanks to the flat bottom, the ship is extremely suitable for shallow waters, such as the Frisian lakes and the IJsselmeer. The hull is entirely made of steel, contributing to the ship's robustness and stability. Steering is done via a wheel in the open cockpit, with a single rudder at the rear.

Interior and Accommodation

Inside, the Zeeschouw accommodates four people, with two fixed berths and two additional sleeping places. The accommodation is equipped with a dining area, mattresses, a refrigerator, and a stove. There is a manual toilet on board, with the discharge directly into open water. The water tank has a capacity of 100 liters, which is sufficient for shorter stays on board.

Sailing Equipment

The ship features traditional rigging with one wooden mast and three sails: a mainsail and a jib are part of the standard sail plan. The condition of the sails is described as reasonable. For extra maneuverability, the ship is equipped with an electric bow thruster. The electrical installation consists of two batteries, a battery charger, alternator, inverter, and shore power connection. The onboard voltage is 12v.

Navigation and Safety

In terms of navigation, the ship is equipped with a depth meter and a compass. There is also a lifebuoy and a self-draining cockpit. These provisions contribute to safe sailing, both on inland waters and larger lakes.

Exterior Equipment

The exterior of the ship is equipped with a sprayhood, cockpit tent, tarpaulins, fenders and lines, a guardrail, and a swim ladder. This equipment enhances comfort on deck and provides protection against weather influences. 

Maintenance and Condition

The boat was taken out of the water for maintenance in 2024, during which the antifouling was also renewed. The condition of the ship is described as good, with a maintenance history dating back to 2000. During this period, the ship has been used exclusively on inland waters and lakes.
